Improving Early Detection

This project is attempting to characterize the molecular, cellular and physiological events that lead to prostate cancer initiation and progression. Through molecular profiling and sequence analysis we are elucidating the transcriptional program and underlying genomic features of large set of diverse human tumors, disseminated tumor cells found in bone marrow aspirates, as well as a wide variety of human xenograft and mouse models of prostate cancer. In addition to identifying pathways and cellular processes involved in the initiation and progression of prostate cancer, genes with prostate-restricted expression may serve as therapeutic targets.
